  1. $90 for two cast iron frying pans is crazy.

    1. One of my careers was a housewares buyer for several different department stores. I bought cookware and one of my many duties. Open fry pans normally do not come with lids. If they were straight sided sauté pans, they'd have lids.

  2. An old friend makes cast iron pans, just sent me a Christmas present, don't know what it is but it's heavy. Smithy Ironware in Charleston. Damn expensive but evidently they can't keep up with demand.

    1. Cast Iron is iron (that is heavy) that is cast (liquified and poured into a mold). It will always be heavy.

If you want "light" then you need to use aluminum that might be coated or anodized.

    1. MoFo: You've been listening and reading BS propaganda.

Yes, burned Teflon will kill a canary in a kitchen...but who is stupid enough to keep their extremely sensitive birds in their kitchen? You've heard of a "canary in a coal mine"? Their tender little lungs are highly sensitive and any weirdness in the air will kill them.

Also, they produce artificial blood out of the same material that is in Teflon. The material is "inert" and does not affect you or your food...unless (again) you are stupid enough to leave it on the burner and cause it to burn and melt.
