The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? I have a recipe for what are known as "ginger crinkles." Very soft when first out of the oven, but harden up just like Ginger Snaps when cool. Recipe is from the 1983 Good Housekeeping ring binder cookbook. Best cookbook we've ever used.
Most gingerbread I've tried in the last few years is weak. Ginger snaps are stronger and cheaper.
