Barbara Stanwyck. "Heeeeath!"

  1. At that time she was the highest paid actress in H-wood. And Fred almost always portrayed a "bad guy" until he became Steve Douglas.

    1. Fred had a somewhat diverse collection of roles, I think. anyway he always delivered.

he played a great heel at least twice, one in this film and another in "The Apartment". both wilder films. I've read he wasn't the first choice for "The Apartment".

    1. EGR provides much, has a similar role in "The Stranger", a Welles film in 1947 that has odd non-connected similarities to "Double Indemnity" and "The Third Man"('49).

  4. Watched a digitally remastered version in a theater recently. You really don't get the real experience watching great films like this at home on TV.

  5. Barbara Stanwyck was just hot. Fred MacMurray, on the other hand, not a big fan of. His delivery seems to always be too fast, almost like not acting but delivering rapid lines. I know many love him, but I'm not one of those many. (except for Steve Douglas).
