  1. It is fascinating, but a bit depressing. Life in Appalachia in the 30’s. Agee and Evans were an exceptional team. Great photos and text. Highly recommended

    1. Not Appalachia. Alabama. Someone wrote a sequel in the 1990s - "And Their Children After Them". Sought out the descendants from the 1930s book.

  2. This brings back memories. I read this book 58 years ago and still have it. One of the most memorable books I’ve ever read.

    1. This book went to India with me in the early 60's and came back with me in the 70's. It's still in my library and I read through it for "standing on the shoulders of our forebearers" moments..

  3. Goodreads is a must to visit if you don't have unlimited time left on this planet. It's the "rotten tomatoes" for books and I usually check out their reviews, almost all of them written by avid readers. Sometimes I'll read a book that truly sucked and afterwards the goodreads reviewers underline my discontent.
