And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Mrs. CW and the Icelandic Daughter got one of these and now they're going nuts "panini-ing" everything.
The gray one? We have that too. Used it a lot when we first got it. Couple years later and I don't even know where it is. Maybe in a laundry room cabinet. Might have to go looking for it....
The waffle iron we had when I was a kid had reversable "irons", one side was waffle and the other side was smooth, we made grilled cheese sandwiches in it.
That's the way our Cuisinart "Griddler" is, reversible plates - ridged and plain and it has another set that are waffle on one side and plain on the other.
like to test drive it to make a Cuban sandwich - a Cubano.
ReplyDeleteI remember when the lovely missus and I first got married back in 1974 we did the same thing with a waffle maker.
ReplyDeleteThose sandwiches were not made on that press….. Grill marks don’t lie!
ReplyDeleteNevermind the sandwich grill marks, what about that egg?!?
DeleteGot one made by Cuisinart. It's excellent.

DeleteDid the same when I got one years ago. It quickly went to the donation bin after I started having trouble buttoning my jeans...;)
ReplyDeleteThrow a pile of Thanksgiving-style stuffing in that. Trust me.
ReplyDeleteItalian George Foreman appliance. Big waffle iron.

DeleteYes! And since the griddles are removable, it's much easier to clean.
