And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Ernest Hemingway (Muffin's Dad), Paris 1923 -by Man Ray
I trespassed onto his place in Ketchum, Idaho in 2010. Nobody was around so I pressed my nose up against every window and peered in. Like a time capsule from the 1950's all of the furniture is exactly as it was when it was handed over to the Nature Conservancy initially. Now I think it's held by the town library. No window, just a big green door to the vestibule where he blew himself away. Looking through the living room window you can see the door leading into that space.
