And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
opportunistic, their beaks cannot get through the skin and need a wound to get at the meat. examples are given of ravens "leading lost hikers, etc" to safety in the forest, when actually the intent might be leading them to a predator to share a meal.
in NC we had a deer dead in the road, buzzards and crows pecked its eyes out but coud not pierce the skin to eat further.
Watched a carcass in the Lamar Valley once where there was practically a conga line. A grizzly bear was head of the dance. Behind him were a couple of wolves. A bald eagle perched nearby regally surveying the scene while crows danced about waiting their turn. Amazingly, there were fewer than a dozen of us willing to stand in a snow storm to watch this scene.
Beggars can’t be choosers…
ReplyDeleteThe magpies brought it down, the wolf is just scavenging.

ReplyDeleteCrows will call wolves to a carcass so they will tear it open and the birds can feed.
