And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I loved everything about Florence but their meals, consisting of multiple courses of fabulously tasty dishes, but way too much in each course and way too many courses.
It took a while but we found a few restaurants offering single plate meals - a starch a veg or salad and a protein. The best one was on the side street a block or so away from the Duomo, but which direction, I've forgotten.

Yep, that’s Florence’s basilica. Lived in Livorno six years and made many trips to my favorite city.
