And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
The horizontal stabilizer is above the turret so it's a Halifax bomber. The Lancaster had the same turret made by Frazer Nash, an English sports car maker. Al_in_Ottawa
Imagine the trade-off before every single bombing mission, how many machine gun rounds are we taking along in lieu of bombs? Just think how much that ammo weighed.

Not that it was completely ineffective, but...
