Backup Power

  1. The short evaluation reads: "No, it doesn't".

  2. Recharges in 1 hour with solar while plugged into an AC outlet providing 2000W input (that's 120 at almost 17 A) or 1.3 hours at 1500W (12.5A) or 2 hours at 1000W (8.5A).

In other words, it's not a power backup system for when the grid's down. Without the AC outlet working that 2015 Watt*Hour battery will need a lot more time to charge.

  3. When I see the word "generator" used with a solar system I know it's a scam or I guess you could call it "merchandising".

If the solar panels are NOT included (like here) it is just a battery pretending to be a generator.

  4. That's a 400w solar panel so you'll need more than one.

  5. As others mentioned, the term "generator" is a marketing misnomer, it's a rechargeable storage battery. Best one I have had experience with (there may be others) is EcoFlow, building off-grid until power could be hooked up, ran the table saw, a large SDS hammer drill, and other smaller corded tools...while recharging our cordless gear batteries. Was seriously impressive. Recharge overnight was necessary after heavy use, but was good for all week with lighter loads.

    1. I bought an EcoFlow Delta 2 years ago and have used it twice when the power was out. Kept my freezer running for 22 hours. Gonna buy another one this week. I keep mine plugged into the wall all the time.

  6. Yes, that IS "remarkly fast recharge".
I swear. Anna Martin, salary 49, Amazon ads. These ESL (English is a Secomd Language) students are everywhere. Imagine what America's going to be like in ten years.

  7. Nope, I have a 7.5 kw pure wave inverter that I can hook up to the PowerStroke. At 95% load the truck will burn 6.5 gallons in 24 hours. It is nice having the duel alternators.

    1. Getting a truck now, with dual alt's, about 400 amps. How do you connect yours up? Direct to battery, using the 7-way plug, what? hadn't thought about this, but it sounds like a really good idea. Thanks

  8. 2000 watt hours will let you run a 100W light bulb for 20 hrs.
