  3. Actually having your own timing light made you a true gearhead! I owned a full S&K 1/2 inch socket set AND a torque wrench & felt like I was king-of-the-hill! The good old days when all I had to do was replace burned out cutches and rebuild transmissions!

  4. and do not forget the vacuum gauge ! get the highest reading to fine tune your carb. you can also set your timing the same way. old school way.

    1. I used to set the fuel mixture with the tach on my dwell meter. The highest rpm at a warm idle is how I'd do it, if I remember right. It's been a long, long time.

  5. I had one of those books a long time ago. Have you ever used an emery board and a match book to clean up and set some points?

    1. I used to use a dollar bill to burnish contacts on open relays. I think I learned that in the Air Force.
