And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Probably quite valuable if you could find one today
Actually having your own timing light made you a true gearhead! I owned a full S&K 1/2 inch socket set AND a torque wrench & felt like I was king-of-the-hill! The good old days when all I had to do was replace burned out cutches and rebuild transmissions!
and do not forget the vacuum gauge ! get the highest reading to fine tune your carb. you can also set your timing the same way. old school way. dave in pa.
I used to set the fuel mixture with the tach on my dwell meter. The highest rpm at a warm idle is how I'd do it, if I remember right. It's been a long, long time.
Late 60s, would borrow my neighbor's timing light & torque wrench to tune up my 64 Impala.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the dwell meter.

DeleteYour neighbor called and said he wants his timing light and torque wrench back.

DeleteI had one of those books a long time ago. Have you ever used an emery board and a match book to clean up and set some points?
ReplyDeleteI used to use a dollar bill to burnish contacts on open relays. I think I learned that in the Air Force.
DeleteI tune it by sound. Never failed.
