Last night, the sky ignited for about two minutes as the sun fell below the coast range. Do I see a little bit of Virga from that cloud?

  2. Don't know about seeing a bit of virga, but I do know you were treated to an eye-catching setting sunlight sky.

  3. So, I learned a new word today. How is it that I'm so unaware that I could live 70 years and never hear of "virga"? It "virgas" all the time around here. I just call it wannabe rain.

    1. I grew up calling it Mare's Tails..

    2. Rick, Mare's Tail's are cirrus clouds, way up there, virga falls from clouds much lower usually cumulus.

  4. Virgas? Earlier my 78-year old eyes' first view of the caption read "viagra"! Spent a moment trying to reconcile that interpretation then moved on somewhat baffled. Second visit tells me it was a Freudian moment of sorts.
