    1. Given the posture, I wonder if the art started as something else...

  4. another sparkling gem in North American Aviation's crown. A little slow but a reliable and versatile perform as a bomber and attack aircraft with USAAF, USN and USMC. Long serving too and in nations too numerous to mention.

    2. The B-25 was the first spooky gunship. Started with unauthorized field mods.

  5. Took me 35 years of living to discover shirt cuffs have to be turned back like that *before* you put the shirt on.

  6. sent the page to a friend with some time in C-47's, B-17's, his take in reply:

"That’s a whole lot of missions. B-25’s flew more missions generally than the B-17 and B-24 heavy bombers did. I’ve heard the B-25 described as an unequalled means of transforming Avgas into noise, though I’m told that the PBY Catalinas with the twin radials right outside the cockpit could be equally noisy inside."

  8. My Dad was stationed at a few different air fields in the Pacific during WWII.
He had some pics (of which I own now) of some very NSFW nose art. One was called "Nifty Fifties"! I'll let you guess what the nifty fifties were.... they were not machine guns.
