And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. This is probably the book recommended by reader Techiedude. I'm getting one in hardback to read.
Excellent book. Not just for the inside scoop on the Skunk Works, although that's fascinating by itself. It's also a graduate-level class on managing high-quality projects and getting the best from people.
In '96 I was working on a contract at Quantico, and had a great deal of respect for the PM. When I left to move to a new city, I had bought a copy as a gift for the project manager on the contract I was leaving. He said it was the best gift he ever got from one of his direct reports.
I was loaned a copy in the mid '90s, shortly after it was first published. There isn't a lot about the technology as the Blackbird and Nighthawk were still top secret at the time but his insights into managing people, projects and dealing with the USAF are enlightening. An excellent book. Al_in_Ottawa
