And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I blame the A-12 disaster. The A-12 scared the DoD off the bleeding edge. The F-22 was the 'safer' bet, the F-23 more of a technological risk. The F23 was the better plane, larger weapons bay, more range over the F-22. The F-22 was more maneuverable but the prototype had thrust vectoring and the F-23 prototype did not. Give it thrust vectoring too and I think it's just as competitive.
The far better, but far less politically connected, contestant in the last fighter competition.
ReplyDeleteWhat we could have had...
True. Same with the X-32 vs 35
