  6. '53 (or '54?) Studebaker Commander Coupe. Raymond Loewy was head and shoulders above all the other designers in Detroit.

    1. Yep. My brother in law and 2 sons have one in parts right now in the garage and the're restoring it. His father bought it brand new in early 1953 when the BIL was 1 year old. The brother in law started driving it when he was 16.

  8. Out where I live and grew up in NW Indiana we saw a lot of Studebaker's and every year South Bend holds a fest for the Study afficionados and St.Joe MI holds one for Avanti's, both are worth the trip. People who love them are indeed a loyal bunch. But I still say that Studebaker should've focused more on their truck division and they might not have went out of business, I love their old pick ups and you still see those buzzing around in farm towns

  10. My first vehicle...in 1964 I purchased it...$50.00 , and it had a half a tank of gas. Ran like a top with a President V8 engine and 2 speed borg warner auto. Had it painted black at an Earl Scheib in Oakland Cal. for...$19.95.
