  1. While Big Boys were larger, Yellowstones, being designed to haul trains of iron ore, were the more powerful of the two.

    1. Depends on what you call more powerful. The Yellowstone had more tractive effort but the Big Boy had 6600 horsepower. That's power at speed compared to power at a crawl.

    1. There are a couple dozen big engines running today with qualified crews.

  5. Just be sure to keep the water level up. A big exploding boiler can shoot a 40 ton boiler 500 to 600 ft.
