And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Worked at a bike shop in the 70's, and we never put Champion plugs in a bike, and tried not to in cars. We had a plug tester, and they worked badly compared to everything else on the market. REALLY bad in bikes, as they had marginal ignition systems to start with, in most cases. They were okay in lawn mowers. I was told that sponsored racers had custom plugs provided to them, not the normal market stuff.
Friend of mine in the eastern Oregon Rockies during the mid 70s had a metallic gold Firebird with the huge Firebird emblem covering the entire hood…
Coming back from a “resupply shopping run” (nudge nudge wink wink) to Portland at 2:30 -3 am one morning while crossing the Blue Range of the Rockies descending into the Grande Ronde Valley, he caught a mule deer at 95-100 mph which field dressed the rear half into the passenger seat.
He handed me a bowl of Mule deer stew when I showed up to check on him after hearing all the wildly different stories at the town tavern….
His moniker was “Mad John”
He exaggerated stuff a bit, so I don’t quite believe the 95-100 at impact …but I saw the car and the stew was great…
His name ain't Fred. That dude looks so much like Beto O'Rourke it's annoying.
ReplyDeleteHe's probably driving a mobility scooter.
ReplyDelete1/2 Case of Champion spark plugs……that’s because he probably had the spark so advanced he was burning them up in 5,000 miles…
ReplyDelete…hell ..seems like we had to change plugs after 20-25,000 miles in normal driving in most cars back then
Once they took the lead out of the gas, plugs lasted a long time.

CW here. Fantastic story, and the Blue Mountains/Grande Ronde Valley has to be some of the most beautiful country on Earth.
DeleteAgreed. Still wild - most people have no concept of what Oregon looks like on the East side.
Deletestucky's, or hojo?
