Hard Men, Two Faller's Axes, and Three Peaveys

  1. In Michigan, we call the feller's axe the Michigan axe. I have a couple of them.

  4. The Peaveys right here in my little North Maine town were the originators of "The Cantdog" which later became the "Peavey".
    Peavey descendants are still in the hand tool business 100 miles south of here making handles for all kinds of implements from White Ash logs.
    An interesting note is that nearly of the old anvils in the logging areas here and I assume in other places, are peppered on the sides with divots where blacksmiths set the picks on the Peavey.
    The Peavey family that stayed here ran an Ice business up until the 60s using an innovative motorized ice saw of their own design
