Good thing he started backing up when he did

  1. I had something similar on a highway on-ramp. I was in my tiny Toyota Tercel and a truck loaded with 10 foot concrete drainpipes was entering. I got over into the left lane just in time to see the truck tip over and miss my car by about a foot. Would have squashed me like a bug.

    1. Thanks for evoking a great memory, Brewvet. I had a 1982 Toyota Tercel. Snow white 4-speed manual that served me well for 10 years. Thankfully, despite a daily commute of 90 miles up and down the NJ Turnpike I never was close to being crushed.

  2. Yep. Probably passed the stopped car on the right.

  3. Because the asshat was in the crosswalk the truck driver was forced into a tighter turn and over it goes. Motorcycle guy should be paying damages.

    1. I think you’re right. The truck driver had to turn sharply to avoid the bike in the crosswalk, which likely caused to rollover.

    2. Yeah, scooter guy was at fault. I suspect that he rolled into the intersection just as the truck started making the turn. He should have kept moving thru. Not sure why it is so common for drivers to stop in the roadway when they see a vehicle moving toward them, instead of getting out of the way.

    3. hey, will, its a hind brain survival instinct that does what it can to prevent really painful death. doesn't apply to being shot, nothing in genetic memory to compare it too, unlike boulders falling from the cliff would be.
anyway, the truck driver probably was trained on mountain logging trucks and paid piecework wages to boot.

  4. He might have actually been at fault by causing the truck driver to turn too tight.

  5. Imagine that happening but it is an open top dump trailer that just left the meat processing plant loaded with entrails. That happened at the intersection just down the street from the office worked in. We were down wind. It took them 3 hours to flip the truck and trailer back up and load all the guts back in it. It was another 3 hours of the fire department Hazmat team of cleaning the road and affected area.

  6. bikers fault being crosswalk, Trucker should know his truck's limitations. Trucker should have stopped or just run over biker.

  7. Why would you think the trucker should be using the crosswalk? A person crossing at the light would be hit, in that case...
