And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Morning Chores. Not so bad if you get to wear a cowboy hat when you do them, and smell the hay.
No more, thanks. Shoveling snow, chipping ice off the windshield, waiting for the truck to warm up, hoping there's no ice on the road...etc. That's for young people.
Having a great cow dog(s) with you while you do your chores gets you as close to Heaven on Earth as you're going to get. Enjoy and appreciate it while you can.
My morning routine when I was in high school: Git up at 4:30 and put on coveralls. Go to the barn and drop a half bale of hay for the horses, check the pig feeders to make sure they were working while checking to make sure the auto waters were working. Stop by the chicken coup and spread a coffee can of feed while checking the auto water trough. Stop by the feed corral to check the water trough for the cows. I would have just enough time to get a shower before breakfast was served at 6am. I would get to do it all over again when I got home from school but I would be power washing out the hog barn and filling the auto feeders. The horses would get a scoop of feed and I would gather eggs and power wash the cement area of the chicken coup where the feeder was. I would also drop another can of feed into the feeder. I had 7 coveralls. I would put on a fresh set in the morning and re-use them in the afternoon but they would need to be washed after that.
Hay, horses and a crisp cold morning. It gets you ready for breakfast.

ReplyDeleteFine Business on the hat - too bad the horses got to the hay first
