And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

What can you buy for a nickel anymore? Or a quarter?///
Nickel-Quarter or Kennedy 50 cent piece. Hell, I tried to buy something with a Sacagawea dollar recently and the 18 year old cashier needed councilling.
While the prices have changed, the lifelong treat of a A&W Rootbeer has been constant.
On unusual currency, ask your bank for a stack of $2-bills. They usually come in 25 bill packs and are wonderful as tips, conversation-starters and just to mess with young people.
The $2-bill is not often seen outside of the USA, making them fun to give people while traveling.
Often the bank has pristine new packs available, perhaps they are required to take some with their currency orders? That makes giving them out even more fun!
Loved A&W in a frosted mug. Used to buy it by the gallon too. The current version is not made at the restaurants anymore, but is full of preservatives and brought in from outside. It's still good, but not as good as it was in the early 60s and 70s.

ReplyDeleteHell, a $100 bill is the new $20. Lunch now costs $50 for one person in NY.

In a time long ago far far away ...
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid there were still penny candies like Bit-O-Honey and bubblegum. Jawbreakers for a nickel!
ReplyDeleteA solid quarter will get you a decent skall session with the VP, so I'm told.
ReplyDeleteA quarter of what?
