Virtual Ancient Rome in 3D - Baths of Caracalla. We've forgotten how to build really fine structures, it seems. Plus, did the Romans know about chlorine?

  1. The Romans had no chlorine. This highly reactive element requires sophisticated chemistry for its production. It was not isolated until 1774 by Scheele.

  2. I would guess the odd pool trout swam in the Roman baths.

  3. We still do not know how to duplicate the Roman cement outside of a lab.

    1. If they can duplicate it in a lab why can't they duplicate it outside a lab?

  4. Large opulent rooms with seemingly no purpose. Just think, if you owned all of the money and all of the slaves you too could have a building like that!
