  5. Completely untrue if you are a skilled pilot. The first time Delmar took it up he was amazed at how controllable it actually was - even when inverted. He has flown it at air shows all over the world for many years.

  7. Many moons ago I wrote a story featuring this honey of a plane, Miss Gee Bee. Also featured was Billy Mitchell.

    1. I read once where either Mitchell or Doolittle committed to flying it without seeing it. Since they committed and didn't want to go back on their word, they/one of them flew it and swore he'd never do that again. The builder/designer called him some names, questioned his manhood and took the plane up himself. He promptly crashed it and died.
