And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Field Marshal Paul von Hindenberg, 1914. Very serious dude.
Hitler was proclaimed Chancellor on the 30th of January 1933. In February 1932, Hitler became a senior civil servant of BRAUNSCHWEIG and thus automatically a German citizen. This enabled him to run as a candidate in all the following elections and made him eligible to hold political office. Before February 1932 Hitler had the legal status "stateless" because he had lost the Austrian citizenship on 30th of April 1925.
He had been retired prior to 1914's military Olympics. They recalled him because they were having a tough time with Russia. He went to work and whipped the Rooskis at Tannenberg. A monument was built to commemorate the victory and Hindenberg was buried there until Ivan got a rematch and pushed through the area on the way to Oktoberfest in May in Berlin.
they even named a blimp after him

ReplyDeleteFew people remember is critical contribution to geometry. Geometry would be near impossible, without his invention of lines.
