  1. Drilling tunnels. Rotate the head, pull back, open up and use the Red Claw of Death to clear the spill, pulling it onto a center conveyor. Push forward, repeat.

  2. A great many TBM are single use. After the tunnel is done, they often dig their own grave in a side tunnel and are left there. Both Chunnel TBM's are still in the chalk.

  6. The protruding sections on the rear wall, one on each side, if it's not obvious, are to brace it in place against the side walls as the hydraulics force the body and the rotating cutters against the wall in front.
