And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Probably the truck....a U.S. Lend-Lease! And, on the engine...I understand those sleeve-valve engine were very quiet. Was said that you only knew they were near you only when they passed!
I don't think that would run long without a radiator and oil cooler. The RCAF had several squadrons of Typhoons in 1944-45, I'm willing to bet this truck was used in parades in Canada to sell Victory Bonds. I don't believe the Brits ever received lend-lease trucks, Bedford and Austin worked overtime to supply the British Army and RAF with trucks. Most of the Lend-Lease trucks went to Russia. Without American supplies of everything from trucks to metal ingots to food Russia would have been defeated by the Wehrmacht.
Hmm, I wonder how hard it would be to mount a reverse manual valve body 400 behind that and go racing.
