And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
As a rural mail carrier driving my own car in the looooonng UP winters of Michigan for 25 years, I used to carry a couple of 3' X 1' pieces of expanded metal in the trunk for when I got stuck (Pfffft, who needs 4WD anyway if you know enough not to spin your tires when stuck). A bit of shoveling, and wedge those under the tires and drive out, mostly. Now, this was not flat expanded metal, but the type that is bent to have traction-providing edges. The flat type would not work at all I imagine. The rustier they got the better they worked.
I needed those last week. 4WD is no such thing when one wheel spins and the other three just sit there. I ended up getting the jack and blocks out, lifting the wheel enough to get the kitty litter under it. These ramps would have been a lot faster, and I'll add them to the trunk.
Nail em on the tree and they become polar bear back scratchers.
