Never quite reached the "bubble canopy" stage of evolution like its cousins the P-47 and P-51
Look up the P-40-Q. Several prototypes were built (from the last of the P-40-Ns airframes) including one with a bubble canopy in 1944. Performance was enhanced but still inferior to current Mustangs and Thunderbolts.
