And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The robot looks like a "gone bad" version of the tin man.

There is a remake: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_the_Earth_Stood_Still_(2008_film) I have zero interest in watching it. The original, from 1951 is fairly primitive as sci-fi films go, but the acting is superb, and the tension is compelling in the story.
I never envisioned that in space travel men would wear space suits and women would wear see-through plastic suits.
