And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
An interesting piece of history, thanks! I worked summers in college at the plant in LaPorte that Allis-Chalmers took over in 1931. My father shut that entire operation down in about 1989 as Allis-Chalmers tumbled into bankruptcy. At one time, the LaPorte plant was the largest farm machinery plant in the world, having 32 acres of manufacturing space indoors. Amazing place, with a sad end.

Bob. Set your selector switch to "Single" instead of "3-Round Burst."
ReplyDeleteJust be thankful it wasn't set on full "Auto". ;-)
