And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Three survivors out of a crew of over six hundred. First indication of how the Japanese conducted themselves in war when the survivors reported that the Japanese ships fired at the helpless sailors in the water.
It's funny how those inverted-rake bows have made a comeback on ocean-going ships in recent times. We hired a vessel with an Ulstein X-Bow a few years back when they were a a fairly new concept, and the captain avowed they really do ride the waves better in heavy seas.
