And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
In my time in the Marines, I’ve been from the forests of Norway, to tropical beaches int the med, Caribbean, and the Far East. Still, the place I call the most beautiful is the high Sierras around the Marine Corps mountain warfare school near Sonora pass. You can keep the sunny tropic climes! The one place I want to see again, is the Sierras! I hope to see it again before I go.
