  2. Precisely why every trailer has the "THIS VEHICLE MAKES WIDE RIGHT TURNS" with the drawing of a BMW getting squished.

    1. True, but ask any LEO and they will tell you that, wide right turn or not, having that sign on your trailer does not give the truck driver the right to run over any other vehicle legally in the right lane.

    2. You're absolutely correct. It's illegal to swing out into the left lane before turning right, period.

  3. Look at the lines painted on the street. That intersection is set up for that turn.

    1. Exactly so. I always found it very frustrating when folks would go past those lines. They are there for a good reason. If you stop past them, you are stopping in the intersection.
      If I had to make a turn and couldn't because of that, I'd make as much of the turn as I could and just stop and wait for them to either back up or get out of the way. Didn't make a lot of friends doing that though.
