  3. Cast iron, or as some call it, cask arhn, is just about the best all around versatile and useful cooking implement ever. I've got a few and try to keep an eye out at thrift stores and such. Lots if info on line about what to buy (US made) and to avoid ("cough" Chinese) and how to tell the diff.
