And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Short front solved a lot of visibility issues with landings and takeoffs on the carrier. If I recall, Navy didn't want the maintenance issues of twin engines on board a carrier. Then along came the F-6F and the IJN was never the same.

ReplyDeleteThe nose was going to be filled with about 6 or more .50 cal MGs. That may explain the wonky look.

ReplyDeleteIf anybody remembers the DC "Blackhawk" comics, they were shown using this plane in their earlier stories (fighting Nazis in WW II as I recall).
