And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I saw one of those at a local car show a couple of years ago, back when we could have car shows. I can't imagine at my advanced age getting in and our of one. I had enough trouble getting out of my '92 Firebird.
Once you scootch across a door sill to far, you still have reach for a strap to pull the wing down. Not many 300SL's were built and and just a handful till exist.
I remember the first one I ever saw, at Sebring in 1957. Not a racecar, just a guy on the street. I said something to him about what a fabulous car it was, and he said, "Aw, they're like assholes. Everybody's got one." It was also the first time I had ever heard a phrase that has long since become pretty common.
