And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Should have hired a professional, not Uncle Vsevolod.
I know where he can get the wood! I don't know where he was trying get it to go, but someone 'topped' it first. However, the two cuts on each side aren't level or pointing up. They're downwards to the center of the tree. So it wasn't going left or right, that leaves . . .
Shorter trip to carry it to the fireplace?

The timber fallers I've worked around would decide where they wanted it, and the drop would be within inches of that.
