And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My father had one of those (new) back when I was in high school. I was allowed to take it to the senior prom In retrospect, a dumb kids thing, but just to make it not look so much like "daddy's car", before picking up our dates, we took the stock wheel covers off, and installed the custom four bar spinner wheel covers from my '58 convert. When changing them back at 2:00 AM before going home, the police saw us and stopped to investigate. When they realized we weren't stealing the wheel covers, but reinstalling the originals, they just shook their heads and drove away. Good times
BTW --on the "suicide doors" -- since it was a 4 dr hardtop, when you opened the rear door, the rear door window would automatically roll down a couple inches before the door would open --to break the weatherstrip seal with the front door window before opening.
My Dad had that car when I was a little kid and we lived on Plattsburgh AFB in upstate New York. One time I got real sick at Grandmas house in Detroit and Mom grabbed the Lincoln and made a high speed low drag run across Canada, put me in the car and got back to New York in record time where I spent some time in the Base Hospital recovering. Perfect car for the job.
The suicide doors made that car
