The back side of Lassen

Lots of sulfur here.

We didn't stop but at the sulfur works where there is a big bubbling mud pot right by the road, we noticed it was at a roiling boil today.  Last year this same pot was just bubbling.  Definitely some heat getting a bit closer to the surface.

  2. Have you made it over to visit Cinder Cone side of the park? Worth the climb to the top, great view of the mini-badlands. The hike up Broke-off mountain is also well worth it, different view of Mt. Lassen and a great view of the ancient caldera.

    1. Great place. I hiked the rim in the late '70s. Last eruption was in 1908. Looked like it happened yesterday.
