And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I am old enough to remember The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis. Gillis had the hots for Welds (Thalia,) but she was out of his league. Meanwhile a plain jane played by Sheila Kuehl (Zelda) was in love with Dobie and he just couldn't see it. Kuehl went on to be a rug muncher and member of the Los Angeles County Commission. Welds was thermonucler hot back in those days.
