And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The Second America
In 2007 the staff of the Glenn L. Curtiss museum at Hammondsport, New York, completed the fabrication of a full-scale replica of the America. The workers were handicapped by the lack of a complete set of blueprints for the aircraft, although photos helped considerably. The flying boat was launched onto Keuka Lake from Hammondsport's Depot Dock on 15 September 2007. Taxi tests demonstrated that adjustments were needed, and although seemingly a faithful copy of the original America, it lacked something—the Curtiss touch. It would not fly. The aircraft is today on display at the museum.
It's really not a bad idea. Lots of lift.
