And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Amazing video of the worst smog imaginable in Peking, China
Be glad these people don't rule here, or it would be just as bad. LA never reached these levels even at it's worst.
That's not even rare in the land-side environs of Hong Kong (Guangzhou). They burn coal there exclusively for energy. It's like that that this time of year in Beijing because the prevailing off-shore winds shift and the wind begins to blow from the north (Gobi Desert) and east. It generally hits about a month from now - must be early this year.
I'm sure you've seen photos of Chinese people wearing masks on the streets. That's why. It's strange that there is no hew and cry in progressive circles about that sort of global warming pollution coming out of China.
