  1. I present to you a rifle chambered in the 45-70, God's Own Cartridge.
In a moment of facepalm-worthy stupidity, I sold mine.
    Sheesh...

  2. Mine are a "Pre Remington" Marlin Guide Gun with Scout Scope and big loop lever and a Beretta Stampede Marshall .45 with a 4" Barrel and a birdhead grip.

    1. Ed Stevenson was a famous Alaskan guide whose preferred rifles were all big bore lever guns. He lived in Brown Bear country and died of natural causes at 89 years old.

    3. Spoken like an uninitiated novice.

We were shooting a cowboy match one day, and the local SWAT team came up behind us, waiting their turn at the range.
One soopergenius opined "I thought you guys were shooting single action. That guy's got a semi-auto!"
      Cowboy bystanders: "Look again."
Chastened SWAT cop watching senior citizen shooting a pair of Rugers like machine guns: "Holy sh*t! I hope you guys are on our side."

You meet a guy who shoots old timey guns, and he's shooting at you, run.
He probably knows exactly what he's doing.

  6. I'll take that pair in 357, thank you very much.
I KNOW... 44 mag is a fine cartridge. I just don't need it.
