  1. Having lived in Pennsylvania and having friends who have employed the Amish to erect barns and home additions, they are amazing and yes, fast.

    1. Indeed. It was fun to watch. It was also fun they would speak German around me before I told them I spoke German.

    2. The Amish call their language "Pennsylvania Dutch." I have been told that it is a German as the Yiddish that the Jews speak.

    3. As an Afrikaans speaker "Pennsylvania Dutch" is easier to understand than German.

    1. The other most amazing thing is that, if you want and can afford it, they can construct the building without using nails or screws.
