And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My parents had a 1971 conversion VW. Instead of a pop-up, it had a bed that pulled out from behind the back seat that hung from the ceiling. It was nearly a full sized bed with a comfy mattress. They used to drive while I slept in the bed (back we we had a bit more freedom). Dad removed the middle seat and installed carpeting and the dogs slept on the huge floor. A great thing to camp in. Yeah, going up the Grapevine and 395 into the Sierra's was a slow bitch, but fun to camp in nonetheless.
I moved my stuff from San Diego to Emeryville in multiple trips in my 77 bus and it still went like the wind up the Grapevine. The seats in back were long gone and it was perfect. I decided to leave the black leather chair in the back behind the drivers seat so I could pull over anywhere along the 1 on my commute from the Bay Area to San Diego and just roll open the door and watch the sun go down from a comfy chair with drink in hand. I really miss those evenings in Big Sur.
I saw a 1973 VW hatchback today. A square body type in baby blue, it looked like it just came off the showroom floor. It looked a lot smaller than I remember.
kind of a tight squeeze to get that van in there. great location, though.

DeleteAnother AI image. No actual vehicle access to that parking space - and a dumb place for the fire circle.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you bitching about? It's getting so AI trolls are becoming as irritating as vegans.
DeleteAt that height ASL, tidal waves are a non-issue.
ReplyDeleteNot so much for the people down on the beach.
You get a 200' tsunami coming in, you already had much bigger problems than the wave.
