And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
While it may be a dream come true, to have fresh oranges at your fingertips, the oppressive heat, horrendous humidity and massive bugs would drive me crazy.
You are truly a buzzkill. I was born and raised in Orange County Cali in the 50s,60s and had orange groves around me and in our backyards, Never experienced what you fear.
Having lived on the East Coast for many years and having visited Florida at all times of the year, I can attest to my "fears"... especially now that I live in the High Country of Colorado. No citrus trees and not humidity or bugs. Life is good.
With regard to your buzzkill, you can simply skip over "offending" posts and not get so upset that you need a "safe place" to hide.
Grew up in San Jose Calif, had a cherry orchard behind the house, we had apricots trees (2), lemon tree, almond tree in the yard. After the cherry pickers were done the wives on the block would go and pick the cherries left behind, needless to say had to sit and pit the cherries each year along with taking apricots to the business that lets them dry in the sun. Today 60+ years later I do not eat either one. Had my fill long ago.

I saw the cushions and flashed back to my grandma. "Looks like it's going to rain. Take the cushions in."
ReplyDeleteRemembering back over 45 years to quote my little girl, "Orange ju glad I didn't say banana".
