And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I've a 48-star flag plate on my Ford 'cause that's what I was born under. Carried an M-14 in ROTC. Smarter Half gave me an M1A for one of our first Christmases. I've other rifle but if things get "interesting" that's the one I'll grab.
I own a 7.62 M1 Tanker (no removeable magazine - 8 shot en bloc) and it is a lot of fun to shoot (but expensive now). It lost about a pound in weight and 8" of length and I'm okay with that, especially now that I'm older.
I wouldn't mind the above as a gift, but my friends are cheapskates, something we have in common. :^)
I generally prefer wood furniture, but that is pretty.

“Wood” be better with a proper flash suppressor. Given the std cap mag, that seems like a no brainer.
