And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
English breakfast! Nothing better, one thing the Brits get seriously right. I rate bed and breakfast's there by the breakfast they serve. My favorite, serves an entire loaf of sliced home baked white bread toasted in bacon fat, both sides, and best black tea I ever tasted. Its enough food can skip lunch, for a nice roast pork dinner or fish and chips at favorite pubs.
One fries up the various foods and keep it all warm for a few minutes. Then you sop up the fat residue in the pan with a few slices of white bread and fry them until crisp. Yes, both sides. This is called "fried bread". There is no fried bread in the picture, I think. It's just dry toast.
I don't have beans or black pudding with mine either. If you're out and about, most establishments worth their salt allow one to within reason design one's own breakfast. "No beans or black pudding, thanks, but an extra egg and as much bacon as you think fit, pls." Even today, politeness will see you sorted.
Side note - I am ancient and I have never had a decent breakfast in a railway station or an airport.
That's fried bread under the eggs. Black pudding is absolutely delicious. Should be crispy on the outside and soft and succulent in the middle. The flavour, combined with a nice piece of crispy bacon is simply sublime. The beans go nicely with the sausage, as do the eggs. Good to see the beans kept separate from the eggs, should never be allowed to mix. The whole thing looks simply divine and I want it right now!
Fried eggs on fried bread, black pudding, crisped up streaky bacon, fried tomatoes, fried mushrooms, sausages, baked beans, back rashers and a cup of tea and plate of toast on the side. A full English. Heavenly.
Questions: What are the two black things? What is hiding underneath the two eggs? And what kind of bread? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing they are not deep fried Oreo cookies...
DeleteFirst that is an English/Irish Breakfast. The black things are black pudding which is a type of blood sausage.
DeleteFeed the beans to the dog, and I would agree.
ReplyDeleteIf the dog is to stay outside, I would agree.

Couldn't pay me enough to eat black pudding.

ReplyDeleteYou gave me an idea. I make beer bread and instead of the butter I’m going to try bacon fat.
DeleteYUMMY!!!
ReplyDeleteHad one just like that at the Farmers Inn in Warminster, 2006. Loved every bite.
ReplyDeleteDon't mind if I do.

ReplyDeleteThere is a bit of fried bread peeking out. I didn't see it. Well spotted.
