The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? It's a 'trip time' feature. Before the first take-off of the day the trip time hands are set to zero and started. Upon landing, push the button to stop the trip time. At each subsequent take-off and landing start and stop the clock. At the end of the day's flying the total flight time is recorded in the aircraft and engine logbooks.
